Cub Rear tine tillers....

New here but not to Cub Cadet. Have an M60 Tank, great machine. Have over 1000 hours on it with just routine maintenance. Also have a CC rear tine tiller, also a great machine but the Honda engine is moody. Won't run smooth all the time. Been considering installing a Pred motor on it. Also have a Troy-Bilt Horse that has a Pred motor and it's been flawless, much better than the oil burning Tecumseh.

Been looking at the Honda furrow attachment, thinking it will fit the CC tiller but not sure.

Don't see any tiller comments on here so I'm curious.

Hard to believe that no one on this site has a CC rear tine tiller considering the way they fly out of the dealership by me. Guess no one has a garden anymore except me....lol

I see I'm getting no bites but I'll assume there are some out there in cyberland...

Great tilller with 2 pass sod busting (within reason) but with 2 faults.

One is the supplied engine, a Honda GC. Mine always surged and at around 20 hours (I have a big garden, 3 acres), it puked, tossed the rod through the case. Honda gave me no closure, told me the GC motor was a throw away motor so that is what I did, I landfilled it. Installed a 6.5 horse Predator and lived happily ever after. Second Honda that has expired on me so far.

Second is the lack of grease in the transmission as supplied by the factory. I've read elsewhere (not on here) about transmission issues with the rear tine tillers and locking up of the sliding gearset that shifts the wheels and tines from forward to reverse. First thing I did when I got the unit home was pull the sheet metal top off the transmission, that exposes a plastic push in plug that you can remove to add grease, exactly what I did, in fact 2 tubes of teflon based synthetic gear lube. That was 3 years ago and no tranny issues and it shifts smooth and quick.

I own a Troy Bilt horse as well and I prefer the counter rotating tines of the CC over the horse hands down. Think I'll sell the horse at some point in the future.
