I think I'm sold on this mower, have read the reviews and there doesn't seem to be anything in particular to stand out good or bad. 48" Deck price is $3600. Any thoughts?

Is this a used mower or new?

It is brand new

Does it have the Kohler Courage or a kawasaki engine and are you syre it's a 48" and not a 46"?

Kohler and definitely 48"

This doesn't make sense? The 48" comes with a 21.5 HP Cub Cadet professional-grade Kawasaki V-Twin and cost $4495 the 46 comes with the 20hp Kohler Courage V-Twin and there cost is $3499. That's why I'm asking questions I really don't know what your buying?

I think the one I am looking at buying is last years model. The pamphlet the dealer gave me shows all the Z Force S mowers from 46 to 60 have Kohler motors. And I do think he said it was last years model. I see on the website what you're saying buy my pamphlet is different.

Ok if it's last years model that explains a lot. :thumbsup: This years 48 has the EZT transmission which I've always been told to stay away from for commercial use. That would be the only draw back for me. The owner where I bought my 48 and 44" Z Force said he has sold some of the S models and they've never had any problems with any that they've sold. If and when you buy the mower let us know how you like it, I'd be real interested in how you like the steering, I personally am a Lap Bar fan.

Ric I have a question for you... does your Z Force with the lap bars shut off the blade when you back up? If not ( and I would be surprised if it does) why does the "S" version with the steering wheel do it? Any idea?

:laughing: When purchased it did but I took care of that so it mows all the time. I would guess that the S version is set up basically the same way. The PTO works off of a simple safety switch at the base of the Lap Bars. You could cut the wires at the switch and tie them together but I wouldn't recommend doing that. Just disconnect the switch and insert a jumper wire and leave the plugin in alone, that way very little effort you could put it back if the time comes for resale. The other thing I would recommend is not doing anything to the mower until it runs out of warranty. I don't know this but if the S version is set up the same way as there I series tractor there maybe a bypass in by the ignition switch, a button you can push to allow the pto to work all the time.

I bought that model last year to replace a YTH180 Husky. It cuts circles around the Husky but had the breather problem that made cutting on slopes a no-no. Dealer picked it up (200km away), took it to his shop and repaired the problem under warranty. btw warranty does not compensate him for pick up and delivery. I have used it twice since and love it all over again. No matter what you buy, pick your dealer first. I was in the business 25 years and good service with honest prices is the only thing that is important IMHO.
