Hi Guys,
Got a problem with my trusty Cub. She won't start; she doesn't even try to start...she just clicks when I turn the key. I have 12 volts across battery terminal. I have 12 volts on either side of starter solenoid when key is in the on position. Voltage drops to 8 volts when checking on the out of starter solenoid (not sure I should be getting 8 volts but thinking it's OK). Getting 12 volts right on positive wire right at starter but she doesn't start. I took one side of jumper cables and went straight from positive post on battery to wire on starter but nothing happened. Shouldn't it have started just by doing that? I have a little less than an acre and the boy is tired of using the push mower.

Battery is bad you should get around 14v at battery.

Thanks for replying so quickly; my boy is going to go on strike if I can't fix this thing. The voltage is kind of weird; I've been trying to nail this problem and I keep seeing 12 volts, not 14. OK, I'll check that out. Any other ideas or are you pretty sure this one will get it?

I think it will but sometime you have to get the proper voltage to start fixing.
