My father has a cub cadet 2135.
He purchased it used at a yard sale with around 1000 hours on it I believe. It started up fine and he took it home and later that day started mowing his yard, he then stopped mowing because I came to help him with some stuff in the house. When he tried to start it about 10 minutes later it wouldn't start it just kept turning over. He played around with some starting fluid (which had no affect) and then tried to see if it had spark and when he didn't see any he called me out and I tried it and it started. So I thought maybe it was over heating so I did some mowing and tried to stress it a little by going up hills and mowing quickly and when I was just about done it backfired a couple times and shut off. After verifying I wasn't out of gas I was a little worried it blew up but I turned the key and the engine turned over but wouldn't start so I then proceeded to check for spark because he didn't see any. The first 2 times I turned the key I didn't see any spark jumping from the screwdriver I had in the spark plug wire laying across the engine but the next time I did we a real good spark and when I attached the wire the mower started up again. If you have any ideas what could be causing this please reply. Thank you.
