Cub Cadet LTX 1050 PTO engagement is intermittent.

Our church has a LTX 1050 that's at least 10 years old. I was told the longer the mower is operated, each time getting the PTO to reengage is more and more difficult. I checked the mower after church. I sat in the seat, turned the ignition switch to run, and pulled the PTO switch out. The first time I heard a click right away and then sometimes there was a delay of varying duration before hearing the click. Any ideas where to start checking the problem?

Sounds like a loose connection but more likely a bad PTO relay or PTO switch.
