Engine Cub Cadet LT1050 charging system problems

I have a Cub Cadet LT1050 model# CV730S and Kohler spec# PS-CV730-0040, Family# 5KHXS-7252 GC and I'm having charging the battery before I can get the yard finished. How do I go about troubleshooting the charging system. Where do I need to start looking for the problems? Thanks Also I'm looking for a 24 041 52-S and 24 041 14-S carburetor gaskets. Thanks
