The PTO engagement is intermitent. Sometimes it works just fine and other times it will not engage when i pull the switch out. I did notice the last time when i looked under the mower with the switch engaged and the pto did not engage, that there were some small sparks coming from the disc are of the PTO. Using a stick and very slight pressure on the spinning disc, the pto will engage. Is it an electrical problem, or a pto clutch gone bad?

have one had the same problem. un plug the clutch wire from the wiring and check the voltage at wiring harness with clutch on. should be 12 -13 volts. then plug clutch into harness and check voltage again snould still be 12 volts. if volts drop to 10 or less when plugged inthe clutch is bad and needs replaced. if voltage is low with clutch unplugged you have totrace back into harness probably saftey switch where you are getting a voltage drop

Thanks i will give that a try. I appreciate the help. Sounds like a good place to start before i spend the money for a clutch.
