ok guys... i have an issue i need help with. i have a cub cadet lt 1050 that ive had for 2-1/2 yrs now. the only issue i am having is the belt coming off. when i initially start the mower and engage the belt, it will come off one time. i get off, put belt back on and mow grass all day with no issues even engaging and disengaging belt. not sure why it only comes off on the initial engaging on the blades. has anyone else had this issue or can anyone help me with this.
Make sure your deck is near level from front to rear. Don't measure the deck shell but measure the blade tips. Front tip of blade should be 1/4" lower than the back or rear. The cold belt will whip off the pulley on deck. Make sure all idlers with spring are free so they react fast. One other thing the belt will have a memory. If You remove a cold belt from your tractor's PTO or deck, it will take the shape of the lay out of all the pulleys and idlers. Once the belt is run and warmed up that will go away. So check your deck for it too low in the front. If it is, raise it up.

I've replaced the tensioner spring (and belt) on mine, with a bit heavier gauge one, from local hardware (Ace) store. The extra tension seems to help; no problems.
I bought a new LT1050 last August . At three weeks it shed the drive belt and a pulley. Covered under warranty, but had to pay a $70.00 delivery fee. April 2014 deck belt broke, went to dealer, said couldn't cover it because something rubbed it. Happened when we put it in gear. Had to pay $55.00 for new one. Was the most difficult to replace that I have dealt with. Could have bought a John Deere for $900.00 more and now that's beginning to look like what I should have done.
Well I have recently sold my cub cadet and bought a scag zero turn mower. Best decision ever. I was able to fix issues with cub cadet before I sold it. Someone got a good deal on a good mower. Thanks for all the input.
