LT1046 My mower has a knock knock knock sound that is coming from around the transmission it does not knock when the brake is engaged. I have checked for sticks or anything hitting the belts or fan on the tranny to no avail. any ideals?

You’ll probably going to have to check under the unit, I’m thinking bad pulley on the drive tensioner arm. Post unit model and serial numbers from under the seat.
Went back and reexamined everything as before. found nothing out of place. Decided to look again at the drive belt which looked good on the outside and inside. Come to find out that the belt has a 1/2-inch spot missing on the inside. I am assuming that when this passes over the drive pully that it is causing the thumping. waiting on new belt to see if that is it.

The belt chunking a section is most likely the problem. Make sure you take pictures of how the old one is routed before you remove it. It would be wise the replace the idler and tensioner pullies while you are this far into the project.

You can find all the parts on Parts Tree.com. Need to have your numbers off the label under the seat or hood to get the correct match.
