My 2005 CC is running extra rich and puffing black smoke as you increase the throttle. I have rebuilt the carb (keihn) put all new hoses and drained the tank and dried it completely. I found a large amount of water in gas early on, but is no longer a problem. I use only non ethenol gas all the time. I have taken carb off several times and cannot solve problem and I changed fuel filter. I can get some mowing time by adjusting the gas flow using the cut off on the fuel tank, but is almost a constant thing to keep it running. When it is running as it should for short intervals it is as strong as ever. I have not replaced the fuel pump, but it is getting way too much fuel already.
My only guess is that it is something to do with float in carb. I have checed it for leaks. I replaces needle seet valve, and it made no difference.
Any body have any suggestions?
I'm assuming that your engine is a CV23. If so this manual might help you. I would check the float needle and seat, as they may not be sealing properly, may need to replace. Also, check the float level.
