I've seen this topic before, but cant remember the solution. Problem- After 45 mins of mowing , mower shuts down as though its starved for gas. Cool down for 1/2 hour, 45 mins later dies again.
Clean airfilter, plenty of gas, think its a float problem? Has a Kohler motor if that helps!
Thanks!
Blackhawk,
Hope you're still on the forum and found a solution to this problem... I began dealing with this issue on a 1996 HDS-2135 Cub about the same time as your initial post. I've replaced the coil, rebuilt the carb, loosened the fuel tank cap, checked the fuel line - and aside from all the normal maintenance (new spark plug, oil/tran filter change); I'm still having the problem.
I've identified at least 5 other similar posts from various Cub models - all having this similar problem but no final solution.
Something's heating up and if I quickly disengage the mower PTO and choke it a bit; I can keep it running to get it back to the garage.
If I force it and keep running it, it will suddenly just die - then after an hour or two, I'll be able to start it up and run it another 45 min.s to an hour.
Reply back if you're still on the forum.
