Remove the kill wire from the coil and check for spark again. No spark means bad coil.

This is a new coil, what is the clearance between the coil and flywheel?

.010 and make sure the coil isn't mounted upside down.

Should be Kohler coil part number 12 584 04. Air gap should be .010”. Did you buy an OEM coil from a reputable dealer or go to FleaBay or AmoScam to get your coil? Cant tell you the number of times we’ve encountered bad parts sold on the internet sites.

Most Kohler coils are mounted with the kill wire terminal up. See this manual under reassembly. https://www.mymowerparts.com/pdf/Ko...13-CV14-CV15-CV16-CV460-CV465-CV490-CV495.pdf

Looks like coil has an arrow on it. So the arrow will face you with the arrow pointing to the left. Which appears which will put the kill wire tab on top.
