I have a ZT1844 with a Briggs and Stratton engine. Engine stops spinning after a 1/4 turn when trying to crank. Battery has full charge. Engine spins fine with the spark plug out. I checked the gap on the intake and exhaust valves. I don't know what else it could be but to much compression. Got a new starter and still does the same thing. engine # 331877 0036. Can anybody help? Please.

If the valve gaps are correct and from your description sounds like the compression release on the camshaft is broken, which is a common issue with some Briggs engines. Sounds like time to replace the camshaft.
