Hi I have a Craftsman lawn mower. I took the original motor out because it didn't run so I put a 20hp twin cylinder briggs and straton in it. I bought I new coil for it and then it started right up. When I went to shut the mower of it spit and sputtered then shot blue flames out the pipes. Now it wont start again it'll just turn over. I figured out that the coil is bad again this is the third one I've went through. Any idea what's wrong with it and why it keeps frying the coils.

There is a good chance that you are getting a voltage spike at the kill wire on the ignition module. Any stray voltage will toast on in about half a second. Time to get the meter out and check for voltage problems at the kill wire on the module.

Most likely cause is faulty key switch, but could be other places in the wiring harness.

Don't tell this to "Rivets", he will be torn up!!!!! He went on an earlier tirade a couple of months ago, about how this is not possible!!!!
