Craftsman won't drive

My riding craftsman (4 years old) won't drive. If I put it on blocks the axles will turn forward and reverse while running, but i can grab the axle and make it stop. I replaced the drive belt with no luck. I made sure the neutral switch ( to manualy push the mower) is not engaged. There is no signs of leaking fluid anywhere on the transmission. I called craftsman parts and of course they said the transmission is broken and a new one is $710 with no rebuilds available. Please help.

Check the tension pulley on the drive belt. If you have a hydro transmission it should be tight at all times. If you have a gear style transmission the belt should be tight when you let out the clutch.
