Hi
I recently bought a new pair of front wheels for my 42" Craftsman riding mower from a seller on EBAY.. These new wheels do not have metal axle bushings nor do the wheels have a grease fitting installed. Bushings for the new wheels are plastic. The original wheels have metal bushings with grease fittings for lubrication. My question is:
ARE THESE NEWER REPLACEMENTS AN UPGRADE TO THE OLDER METAL AXLE BUSHINGS AND IS LUBRICATION REQUIRED SINCE THE NEWER WHEELS WITH THE PLASTIC BUSHINGS DON'T HAVE GREASE FITTINGS?
When a machine of substancial weight rides on plastic, you can expect to be changing them often. Roller brg wheels are the way to go for a lifetime. Usually the rubber will be worn out before the brgs wear out.

Certain models came with either type.
If you have metal you should replace with metal which are still available.
