I have a Craftsman T1200 riding mower. To give some background on where my issue began- my wife was mowing and went through some tall grass. She said the mower shut off and blew some black smoke out. I’d like to think I’m handy with small motors so I began troubleshooting.
I’ve cleaned carb, new gas, new air filter, new spark plug, oil is topped off. Engine turns over and over but will not run. There is spark, it is getting gas (sprayed carb cleaner) and still won’t start. I’ve bypassed all safety switches, ran trigger wire directly from ignition switch to solenoid and still just turns over but won’t run. Any advice what to do next is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Erik

Check the Flywheel key, you may have sheared it which will throught it out of timing.

Any progress with the Craftsman issue?
Yes, unfortunately one of the last things I checked was the rocker arms. One was cracked in half. Replaced it and it’s so far running as it should. I forgot to update. Thanks!!!
