So last time cutting my grass the drive belt broke. So I went to autozone and got a 34” belt. Now when I press the brake down and select my speed and slowly left off the brake the mower starts to go forward and then dies out. Any idea?

Sounds like you may have the wrong belt. Give us the model numbers from under the seat.
