I have an old Craftsman push mower motor# 143 374082 SLR6321A
(Mower model# 917372110; Lot# S111986; Serial #026367)
The last time I pulled the cord it didn't engage the motor, the pull cord retracted fast. Upon taking the pulley housing off the motor, I found the 'dogs', a larger spring and washer that were off the pulley assembly. The small springs were in place that hold the dogs, so I was able to insert them back in place. The larger spring and washer must go on the outside of the assembly that holds the cap down for tension when the cord is pulled and the dogs open to engage the motor. As I hold the cap that allows the dogs to retract or open and pull the cord, the dogs work. So, the pulley works, the cord is only a couple years old and there is no obstruction, and the mechanism isn't damaged that holds the dogs to open and retract. Does anyone have a diagram of how the remaining spring and washer go on for the pulley assembly to work when I put this back on the mower?
