With slightly less than an acre of mowable lawn, I used a 42" Craftsman LT1000 for years. When we got a bigger lot (about 2 acres), I purchased a used Gravely Promaster 300 60" and loved it. When the PTO went out, I purchased a Gravely ZTX 52 this year and what a different it makes in the straight stretches! I still have the Promaster and use it to trim under low-hanging trees, etc. The Craftsman has been retired from mowing and has been fitted with a winch-controlled snowplow.
I dabble in small engine repair and welding when I need to.
