craftsman eager 1 carb install

hi forum members, ordered new carb(640020). the new carb comes with a heat shield. two questions: how do you install it, what does it do? thank you.

Goes inbetween the engine and carb and it shields the carb from heat.

thanks for your response. come to find out heat shield was factory installed on my engine.
