craftsman dyt 4000

First of all i would like to say hello i,m new to the site and this is my first post. I have a craftsman dyt 4000 riding mower 48 deck and bs 24 hp . having problems with it charging battery . Amp gauge reads 0 then when i turn on mower it goes to the negative side of gauge . Started mower up and stuck a voltage meter on it and it read 12 volts at wide open throttle the volts started to drop . taught maybe voltage regulater any suggestions ? checked power going to reg and has 12 vlts pulled plug and checked volts coming out a nothing

Buckeye. I have that tractor but no electrical problems yet. There are links in the forum to t-shooting charts for your tractor. I may even have them in the Intek engine manual. Look around and advise us.

In case anyone has the same problem figured it out it was the voltage regulater . Put a new one on and is charging .
