Thanks for your helpJust go out to your walnut tree and see any of those walnuts will fit but personally I have never seen a Walnut carburetor. Beside most Poulans uses either the Zama or Walbro OEM carburetors.
Thank you I will try your advice. The idle screw is the big phillips head. It should be turned in/CW for higher idle. The 2 smaller screws are the Lo & Hi jets. Lo is always nearest to cyl. 1.5 out/CCW from lightly seated is a good starting point. Maybe you just need the IDLE screw turned CW. Watch the taper on this screw - you'll see IN/CW gives a fatter part of the taper = more open throttle.
There are a few exceptions to that rule. I have seen the L and H reversed on some models of the Walbro and Zama carburetors. The idle screw is the big phillips head. I meant walbro but it came out walnut I should double checked before I submitted.I have an old craftsman chainsaw that wouldn't start I rebuilt the carburetor and replaced the fuel lines it is model 358-355161 16" with a walnut 20 carburetor. It now starts and runs great at top speed, but it won't idle I have both idle screws turned out 1 1/2 turns the low speed idle does not seem to respond one way or the other. When I rebuilt the carb. I think there was a small o ring in the low idle adjustment screw,It was damaged and I wasn't sure if it was part of this carb.I checked other walnut carbs I have but they do not have an o ring.I would appreciate any help in getting the chain saw to idle.
Thank you Dougand3 I did what you said I turned the idle adjustment enough to keep it running at idle, then fine tuned the low and hi mixture screws then turned the idle adjustment our until the chain wasn't moving. Its running great it is 40 years old but I don't use it much anymore.I run it with a 40 to one oil and gas mixture because it is so old.Again you were a great help!Thank you I will try your advice.

So you can't take a little fun poking at you calling the carburetor a walnut. So be it I just make sure I don't help you anymore when you insult an OEM brand name.I would like to say that I was helped by this site,by other mechanics who seem to have a lot more knowledge than the star tech(the nerd) ! I did all the above before I posted my question. I know a lot about mechanics you nerd! As far as running your own business I don't believe you I think your mom is calling you for dinner come up from the basement you nerd! You could have never made it in the infrantrySo you can't take a little fun poking at you calling the carburetor a walnut. BTW as me being a loser so are you if you can't take a joke. To me if you want a serious answer then post a serious question. I just wonder if you even bother to adjust the metering lever to the proper height provided you replaced the it and the metering needle. IF you want to learn more about that Walbro WT you should download the service manual for the WT series.
And since you are an Army veteran you should been able to see the humor the toothbrush scrubbing the floor comment as you may have seen a few privates to clean the barrack floors as a punishment. At least you weren't a Marine Corp private I know of that had to lick up his own punk in his first couple weeks of training.
If I am such a nerd (which btw is not an insult) then how I can successfully run a repair shop for the 20+yrs where the only mechanic is myself so I am the chief cook and bottle washer; otherwise, I do everything that has to be done to run to a business. On top that I probably do know alot more than just HVAC repairs like electronic office including computers, financial equipment, ATVs, Lawn care, form handling, electrical, vehicle (both consumer and commercial), farm equipment, home repairs (both frame and masonry including electrical and plumbing), and I am even Amatuer radio with CW experience. This a few things that I am capable of not mentioning being able to operate on my own animals a times. So yes I am well verse in many fields.

Hey dummy squad Bob, you've never seen the man in person. Your childish comments do no harm. Put your juice box down and go troll some other board. You look like a loser to me!I am glad you were not in my platoon a lot of us wouldn't have survived you coward!!!
