Craftsman ad tells truth

I saw a Craftsman ad on TV where they were saying the Craftsman tractor will do 7.5 mph which is a higher speed than the competition, which in turn will finish your work faster. We'll this morning I took my tractor with my GPS stuck on the hood out onto the pavement & gave her all she had & she bobbed between 7 & 8 mph. My wife says I'm nuts but some things just have to be verified. My tractor is a 24 hp Kolher, 46" cut, 2011/12.::eek:

Well I have found that my ydt 4000 with Briggs Intek 24 does not like to cut thick grass at top speed. I run it about half speed. Especially true with damp or wet grass.

Yeah- tall/wet grass does slow the cutting a bit. When I first got the mower I would sometimes get a small amount of smoke from around electric clutch (belt.)
