Craftsman 917374356 starting issue

Hello all,

I added another mower to the collection it was a deal I couldn't pass up. The only issue with it is she has a hard time starting. It has the ready start engine so no primer. If I work the throttle on the carb she will start and runs great but other than that i can't get it to start.

Air filter is clean, gas is fresh, choke moves freely.

What should I do? Pull the carb off and clean it? This is my first mower with the ready start so any insight would be great thanks.

Maybe I should have clarified more. There is no issue getting the engine crank but it won't fire up without manipulation of the carb or spraying ether.
