craftsman 6.25hp mower w/brigs & straton engine starts and dies

my craftsman 6.25hp walk behind self propelled mower w/ brigs & straton engine starts runs for about 5 seconds then dies and will not restart for a short period of time.

Try running it without the fuel cap, maybe the vents in it are plugged. If that doesn't work, see if you can start it on gas but keep it running on carb cleaner or starter fluid. If you can, then it's a carb issue, possibly a stuck needle & seat or clogged carb/fuel line.

Thoroughly, clean the carb, this will most likely solve the issue. This is surley a carb problem. If necessary rebuild it.

yup yup. i can keep it running if i spray fuel in. so looks like its time to take the carb off. thanks all for your help.

No problem :) Be thankful you have a Briggs, super easy to look up parts and get a carb rebuild kit.

I have a Craftsman 6.25 hp and it is doing the same thing. I already rebuilt the carb. Still same problem. I did read were a guy did everything we have done twice over and he replace a $14.00 part dealing with the automatic choke behind the exhaust. I am looking for the part now.. I'll let u know if it works..
