I have a Craftsman 21" 4.75hp push mower, model 917.388920
The issue started when it would not pull start, so after some research I took the top apart. Cord is fine, brake is disengaging fine. When I move the blade or the top assembly (Flywheel?) it spins fine most of the time, but hits a point that is hard to get it to spin past. I have not hit anything with it, at least not in about 5 years. Only other thing done was oil was changed last weekend and refilled. Still have oil in it checked to be sure this morning.
Was hoping to not have to replace it until we move as I do want an upgrade but wanted to wait til we were in the next house I would be mowing before I upgraded.
