Craftsman 33 inch wide cut mower help

I was given a Craftsman 33 inch wide cut mower by a neighbor. I used it once after getting it started(end of year) and when I went to use it this year it turned over and just stopped. I planned on changing all the moving parts- belts, blades etc. I tilted the machine back to get a look at the underside and I noticed one of the blades was pressing up against the side of the carrige- dug a groove. I'm trying to determine if its the blade thats bent or something wrong with the spindle. It seems like its set at an angle on the machine but the holes dont match up if I straighten it out. I want to remove the blade deck but I'm having a hell of a time trying to remove the belt keeper so I can get it off.
Does anyone have experience with this machine that they can help with this step. You can find any kind of ridiculous content on the on internet but unvelievably not anything on this particular mower.
