Craftsman 22" weedtrimmer

I have an older 6 hp briggs and stratton 22" weed trimmer, starts fine, but the only way to get the rpms up is to hold the governor open at the carb, it seems when running the choke is holding the governor from operating, I can manually open up the choke (no choke or carb adjustments at all) and the rpms go up fine, but when I release it the choke closes up from force from the governor. Everything operates smoothly, no tension when not running, but when it runs it seems the compression is keeping the choke closed. model 917.773701. wondering if there is an internal governor spring that broke or something.

Ok you have the auto choke on your model engine.....

Here is a video I did a while back showing the choke and possible things that can go wrong......
