jsut finished restoring my mower, I have done nothing mechanical , and all I know this has been its problem and why I got it for free. BUT every time I take it out to mow or just drive the drive belt comes off, it never fails and its a BITCH to get it back on with the deck in place , any words of wisdom to help me? im going nuts.

Look at the front corners of the transmission and look for the support bracket may be on either side or both. If the bolt is missing the tranny can tip causing the drive belt to come off.
Also make sure that all belt guides are in place and not bent causing excess clearance that can cause the belt to slip off when the clutch is pressed down.
In addition to ilengine's sage advice, make sure that all of your pulleys aren't pinched, spread, or bent. This can cause things to go awry quickly too.:wink:
