I have this very old Craftsman 148CC Vacuum Shredder Bagger, and has sat for 8 years. Tried cleaning carburetor, but soaked it overnight, and it is still a mess. Found a new carburetor and installed it. Changed oil, new plug, and it starts on first pull. HOWEVER, it runs a few seconds and cuts off.
I notice on new carburetor that the fuel inlet does not go straight back to the gas tank. It is pointed downward, about 30 degrees. I am wondering if this causes it to start when I prime it, by bringing enough gas to the carburetor, and maybe the fuel line, going downward some, stops feeding gas to the carburetor.
Anyone have any idea on the problem I am having? Thanks very much.
