starts easily every single time. like i said runs for 5-20 minutes and dies but will start right back up.
replaced plug
also tried losoening fuel cap but still have the issue
also as a quick test(not sure if valid though) i bypassed fuel filter to see if it was just clogged but still got same issue.
fuel shutoff solenoid wasnt working so i did replace that but still seeing same issue
when its running it sounds good until maybe the last 10 seconds before it dies and it almost sounds like very light backfiring
when its trying to die if you choke it the engine will pick back up and sound ok for maybe 30 seconds then die anyway
also note that after it dies it will start right back up immediately

family 1khxs.4902gb
displ (cc) 490
model cv490s
spec no 27508

any ideas?

Totally drain and dry out the fuel system sounds like you have some pesky water slinking around in the bottom of your carb/tanks/filter......

well i drained all gas out yesterday
let it dry out overnight
went and got fresh gas this morning from gas station
filed it up
started it
ran for about 20 minutes and died
it starts back up and now that i assume that its warm only runs for 3-5 minutes and ies

so basically its doing same exact thing it was

any more ideas

it always seem to run the longest when engine is cold

Put up your engine model and spec numbers, and we can see if you have adjustable valves.

Well, you have hydraulic lifters. It still sounds fuel related, when you say you drained the fuel this last time, you also drained the carb, as a layer of water in the bottom of the bowl can give you all kinds of trouble.

Just for testing purposes, loosen the fuel solenoid, and let the contents dribble out onto a pan and look at it, look for any beads of water, and let it dribble out a bit. The tighten lightly, and go mow until it acts up, and when it does, quickly get off and loosen the solenoid and see if there is any or little fuel in the bowl.
