Does the engine have a throttle? (engine speed control) or is it a fixed speed. I know you did say that "it idles well" but you might just have a dirty air filter that chokes out the engine under load.

The first thing i would look at would be the air filter which for a Honda engine has to be clean with no dirt in the paper fibres ,If its dirty change it remembering to check to see if the spark plugs have not gone black and sooty if so clean or replace . One more thing to check is the fuel filter to see if it is not blocked or even the tube down from the fuel tank can become blocked . Gary:smile:
