Recently acquired a honda harmony 214 MZBA 6408628. Starts and mows fine. Selfpropell does not work. I have had the wheels off, the gears are ok, belt is in place, tried adjusting the clutch cable. Not sure what to try next.

Thanks,
Ray

Hi Ray:

How is the freeplay in the drive clutch lever? Adjust the cable so it about 1-5mm maximum.

Confirm the ratchets are installed correctly on the rear axle. You should hear them clicking on each wheel when rolling the mower (engine off, drive clutch disengaged).

Next, make sure the belt is in good condition, not stretched or worn too much.

Inspect the control arms (both clutch and gear change) on the outside of the transmission. Make the both move back and forth when you move the levers on the handlebar.

If all the above check out, it may be time for a new transmission; there are no service parts for internal repairs of this model. A new trans. is Honda Part Number 20001-VE1-T02. Google a part number to find a Honda Dealer selling it online, or use this link to find a Honda Dealer in your area:
