I have just pulled my garden way (Troy Bilt) push string trimmer out of the basement after several years. I have replaced the carb, cleaned the tank and changed the filter, fuel lines, I have changed the plug. Is there a specific method to flush/clean the oil crank case prior to refilling and attempting to start?

Not really without taking it all apart.
Just put the right mix of 2-stroke oil in some fresh gas then try it, If it runs fine then let it be.

Is this a 4-stroke you're talking about here? If so, dump out the oil, and swish a little kerosene around in it, dump it out again, and let it dry for a day or two. Then refill the crankcase oil.

If not, the crankcase will get cleaned as the oil/fuel mix flows through it. There is no oil in a 2-stroke crankcase (except the oil in the fuel).
