This applies to my Craftsman 2 stage blower but could also apply to any other belt driven power lawn care equipment. Late in the fall I replaced both OEM drive belts on my 21 year old machine, I did test run it and adjust the new belts but it was not under load. When the storm hit last week I went out and after about a half hour of running the machine through heavy, waist high drifts, it started to lose auger throwing ability. On the way back to the garage, it picked up a hard chunk of ice and that jammed the impeller, mainly because the belt was slipping so badly. The idler pulleys and guides really did a number on the topside of the belt before I realized it wasn't throwing snow and released the control lever. Today I took off the belt cover and PROPERLY adjusted the now badly worn belt, it will get me thru this winter but a replacement is only $11 with tax at TSC...gonna get another one soon.

DUMB ME....:confused2::thumbdown: So check those new belts OFTEN.
