CC RZT50 w/ 22hp Briggs Starter Issue

Hey everyone, I got a RZT50 that i am ready to junk as its nothing but issues lately. Had the drive belt snap, ignition switch wore out, stator went out on me, etc..

I just went out and bought almost all replacement parts, switches, solenoids, battery, plugs, filters, etc... about $150 in parts because the mower has some hours on it (400+), so i thought it time to do some maintenance on it.

I got everything installed, went to fire it up, and all i get it a RAPID click from the starter solenoid. not just a single click.

I have tried charging the battery but that didnt help it either.

I have 12+ volts and then when i start it, the volts drop to 9ish, and the LCD readout on the mower blanks while it clicks...as soon as i release the key, the readout comes back on.

I am thinking the starter itself might be the issue.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I would start by making sure all the connections from the battery through the solenoid and to the starter are clean and tight. also check the connections for the ground wire at the frame, as well as the battery.

i already replaced the +battery connector, and i brushed the ones at the solenoid. The ground from the battery was also cleaned, and i verified the ground at the solenoid.

I'm gonna go back and trouble shoot the solenoid again even though its brand new...ya never know....

I have filed 3 warranty claims on Briggs brand solenoids in the last week. So could be a possibly problem.

the solenoid tests fine. I get the click, but still nothing. swapped to different battery, and watched the voltmeter while i was starting, and i see the voltage drop from 12.34 to 10.05 when the key turns, but nothing.

The LCD read out turns to what appears all 7's (777777) on the display when i turn and hold the key to start.

I wish there was a dealer close to me, but there isnt; nearest is 45 miles.

I will have to wait for the woman to give me a hand so i can see if voltage is making its way to the starter .
