My scag patriot rear tires are 22x9.5x12 and I'm looking for something that might hold the slopes a little better. The Carlisle tires are 24x12x12. Will these tires work on my scag?

According to your provided specs your CURRENT tires are 22in. DIAMETER .. 91/2 in. WIDE .. fits a 12in. WHEEL
The Carlisles are 24in. DIAMETER (2in. TALLER, raising the back of your machine (deck-issues..??)
12in. WIDE ( may balloon the sides noticeably)
SHOULD fit your 12in. wheels

Why not add liquid ballast to the rear tires? I have had good success with previous machines doing this.

How about something that looks like this one? Only 1/2" taller so you could level your deck.
