Carburettor Cleaning Procedure

Hello

I bought a new Troy Built 21" push mower
http://www.troybilt.com/equipment/troybilt/lawn-mowers/tb110--triaction--21-walk-behind-push-mower
and accidentally filled the SAE 30 oil in the gas tank after the initial assembly.
I quickly removed oil by draining the tank with the mower sideways, removed the gas tank and rinsed out the tank with gasoline.
Also tried to drain the carb as much as possible by standing the mower sideways.
After filling new oil in the correct place and gasoline in the gas tank, the mower does not start.
I need advice on what to do next.
If the removal and disassembly of the carb is the next step, how to proceed as the 2 bolts holding the carb to the engine are difficult to get at.
The engine is B&S 550ex series with ReadyStart system which does not have any manual controls, choke or throttle.
It does have a warranty (Briggs & Strattonョ Starting Promise
With the Briggs & Strattonョ Starting Promise? an engine equipped with ReadyStartョ will always start on the first or second pull, or it will be fixed for free. )
Wonder if I should go for the warranty.

It does start if I spray carb/choke cleaner in the air intake but stops right away. So, looks like oil is still there in the carb or the jet is plugged.

Thanks

If you got it from a big box store take it back with the receipt and get another one.

They don't have them but offered to repair.

OK, I tried again and after spraying the carb/choke cleaner a couple of times and trying, it seemed to stay on a bit longer. So, I tilted the lawnmower to see if I could flood it with gas to dilute the oil in the carb. It then started and stayed on with sputtering and after a while it became steady. I think it may be a jet that was being cleaned as it ran or was an initial airlock in the carb in addition to the oil flooding. I ran it for a good 5 min and will try later to cut grass as it is drizzling at present.

Moral: Make doubly sure where you are putting oil and gas in a new machine. I think I made this mistake because the gas and oil intakes are in opposite directions to the previous lawnmower I had for 15 years. Lame excuse for a silly error!

It may be somewhat late to help you but possibly someone can benefit some day. Hopefully not.

When this happens and you've tipped to drain etc., remove the spark plug, full choke ( hold hand on top opening of carb ) and crank to purge any oil that's accumulated. Clean the plug with gas, ( outdoors ) re-install the spark plug and try it. Keep repeating and it'll eventually go.
