I just bought an old Roto-Hoe 500 chipper shedder it has a Tecumseh engine on it I'm trying to get this thing running it has spark, when I shoot a little starter fluid in the carb it fires. took the carb off and the bowl is all gummed up. I figure I will try rebuilding the carb, anybody know what kit I need and where to buy from. I can't find any numbers on the engine itself no model number or anything, (is this normal for techmseh?) on the carb there is a series of numbers looks like 96 9F15

mechanic mark

Tecumseh Service Manuals look through this & see if it helps identify carburetor.

Post a couple of pictures of the carb and engine, which will help us identify what you have and how we can help.

Take out the parts that need replacing and post a photo of them. I will find a carb kit for you that has them.

here is the carb taken apart and cleaned, went to the local auto parts store and they sold me a kit but the gaskets don't match up

I'm not sure exactly what parts you need, but here's a kit that might work:

Car Carb Carburetor Repair Rebuild for Tecumseh 632347 632622 HM70 HM80 HM90 US | eBay

I would just replace the float needle and seat with kit number 631021B. Float the instructions in the manual on setting the carb after rebuild.

If you take Rivets' suggestion, you can get the kit here: Inlet Needle Kit for Tecumseh 631021B 49 916 525 212 12263 | eBay

Well as you can see in the last set of pics I posted I have already taken the carb off the motor, and need the gaskets too. I guess I can take the carb to the parts store and see if they have a kit that has the right gaskets in it.

Go to the auto parts store and buy a roll of gasket material like this one: Fel-Pro 3157 - Gasket Materials | O'Reilly Auto Parts

You can make your own gaskets to fit your engine with a hole punch, scissors and a utility knife. Plus you will have a lot of material left over if you ever need gaskets in the future.
