Carb Installation

I am replacing the carb on a D130 John Deere Riding lawnmower. Are there any diagrams or photos to guide me how to reinstall the two rods attached to the carb? Thanks in advance.

Woodcat asked for help with D130 carb linkage a couple of years ago. Search the forums using “D130 linkage“ and “Woodcat” to find it.

Well it is pretty dead simple.

It is getting the governor link into governor lever that is a little bit of a hassle as you mount the intake manifold.

Socket is a E5.

Thank you very much. That is what I needed. A picture is worth a thousand words for me.

I got the mower started. The choke works but the throttle doesn't. It revs to high rpm and I can't change it. The throttle lever moves the choke and moves the butterflies back into run position but that doesn't slow the engine. What have I assembled wrong?

Most likely it is the governor linkage. Check the diagram and make sure you connected the linkage correctly. Is there a spring or springs for the governor? Is it connected correctly? Or, are you missing a spring?

It may need the static governor setting set, But first make the governor arm moves the throttle shaft on the carb.

Everything moving as it should after the adjustment and it still runs away either the carb is on backwards (kinda doubt it) or the governor has failed.

I had the gasket on the air horn backwards. I got it running and the throttle works but it still doesn't idle like it should, or the way I would like. Started the mower and it seemed to have plenty of power and ran well with a load on it. Do I still need to adjust the governor?

I didn't about the gasket being 180 out but yes they are slightly different. Only seen a couple customer installed the wrong way. Governor should be fine if not surging. Idle speeds may need adjusting but requires a tach as you got to set the base idle and the governed idle speed. If not done properly you can get some running problems like one one that won't idle down or won't idle down after it warms up..

Is there a service manual available for this engine? I looked for one on Briggs and Stratton's website and didn't see one for my model number.
Thank you for the help getting it running again.

I just put the 273521 SM in the temp directory for a few days, Deleting Friday.

Don't mess with the governor. That is not an adjustment to be tinkered with.

Did a tension spring come off down below the carburetor? Is the idle adjustment screw set too far out?

Did you replace the intake seals to the heads and gaskets as needed?

Is this an Amazon or Ebay copycat carburetor? They are not all bad, but they are not all good.

I used the mower to mow my back lawn and it ran great. Yes, it is an Amazon copy but with a little help from some guys on this site, I got it right. HUGE HELP!
