Can't stop wanting a Snapper HI-VAC

Hey folks, Anyone have one of the newer Hi-VAC models from Snapper? I've been wanting one for awhile but I'm stuck in that I don't need a mower so it's hard to justify the cost. My current mower is doing fine. But I've always wanted a Snapper HI-VAC and can't stop wanting one. Snapper even offers it as a Push model which I prefer and the 875 professional series B&S engine looks awesome, especially for a residential mower. I always bag and prefer the clean lawn and my kids play outside all the time. My current mower bags okay but it's not the best by any means. I would say it's average in bagging but I do find myself wishing it did a better job. And these Hi-VAC are suppose to tbe the best. Anyone care to share your experience if you have one? Or in regard to quality in the newer Snapper mowers?

I got the commercial grade Hi-Vac. Very nice machine. I havn't mowed with it tho. Grass isn't ready just yet. It is pretty well built, but I can't say anything more. I have to really try it out. The thing I dislike the most is that gut stabbing self-propel lever.

Well check back or do a review on it after you get to use it some. I'd be curious to know how it does for you.

After seeing that other thread of a restored one with a new engine that looks fun too! :)

I live two towns over from McDonough Ga. where the real Snappers were made..
I'd check Craigs List for and older model and replace the motor if needed..

That is a good idea and exactly what I think I will do. I am on the lookout for one around my parts with a good deck and handle. I will most likely order a new honda engine for it.

An easy fix to newer style engagement lever is to install the older style much shorter and doesn't stab like the new one

I am mowing with a Snapper HI-VAC now! It's on old one that I bought without an engine and I pulled my newer B&S engine and put it on the snapper. Working great so far. Later this month I am going to repaint the handle, deck and engine shroud and also put new wheels on. It will look much better. It does mow great now though. Bags much better then the other mower I had.

HAHA! Yeah it looks kind of Christmassy to me. LOL! It will look better with a white shroud for sure. I did also convert it to a push mower as I got both a push and propelled rear axle. It is obviously not going to be original but will be a good mower I can get years of service from. I'll do a thread on the project when it's done.
