I hav a briggs 15.5, 500 Intec engine but I cannot find the engine spec's model number etc. It used to be lasered onto the tappet cover but has long since faded. It was not hammered into the cover like most engines. I have the engine dismantled so are there any marks anywhere else on the engine parts that might help. I have bought a craftsman part that is the same as mine by guesswork, but does not give me the engine specs I want. Any help available as I can't believe that this has not come up before. As I said the engine spec's were on the tappet cover but are now gone. Thanks folks.

Sometimes if you do a parts search for the model of mower it will also have a listing for the engine information that was used on that model.
