Cant find Carb for 5hp Briggs

Hello, i purchased a old MTD rear engine rider with a 5.0 206cc briggs. I am unable to fine a new carb for this engine, Model number on the recoil housing is 130902-1177-01 dont see any other numbers. 299448 Looks to be what i can find in the manuals but it is no longer available from any sites is there an updated carb or a new part number?

Might try replacementparts.com or look on e bay for the replacement OME part number. I think I found a number of 592361 I don't know what your carburetor looks like but according to the replacement that is the number. Have any more information to share with us as if it is a craftsman, yardman, ect.

Wow you got a old one for sure the 299448 is used before 1983 and 396748 is used after 1983.

If you can read the code on the shroud please put it up on here It is the numbers after the 1177-07 . Check this out it might help..

ok the code is 85031507 it's after the model and type.

So you need the newer type carb 396748 google that number with Briggs name and something should pop up....

Why do you need a carb ?? Is it missing from the engine as in not there when you bought it or it just needs a kit in it ??

I didn't exhaust my resources looking for one, but you can check with some lawn mower junk yards online and maybe get one there....

I've checked ALL my resources, same thing, NOT available, as earlier stated, try a few of the "mower-graveyards" also online, other than that, might consider another engine, used or new ...:2cents:
