Had a customer once use some "miracle" high mileage oil treatment that ate up the paper crankcase gasket.

Some synthetics will seap right through some gaskets. In the 80's I worked a quik lube place where I sold Mobil 1 oil changes. We had so many customers came back with oil leaks. Old ones, new ones. It didn't matter.
They told us that it was because Mobil 1's level of detergents that were put in it to keep from having sludge build up.

I would re-assemble with a LocTite red gel gasket maker. They have about 10 versions that can seal different gap thicknesses, mostly in the 500 PN series: 510, 515, 518, etc. It is also sold at Plymouth/Chrysler dealers....
