cable break

I own a craftman model 917.374541 It's a rear wheel self propelled 22inch cut mower with a Briggs engine. The problem was that it didn't want to "self propell". I adjusted the cable at the handle and now the cable broke. Is this a DIY job? There are no instruction in the owners manual. Should I change the belt at the same time? (three years old)

I would not advise you changing it unless you are very handy. You have to split the control unit and reassemble it. Yes replace the belt at the same time.

I gave it a try, and it works. Mowed yesterday and the self prop' worked like new. Thanks, Jay
