Bypass transmission rod

I have a new Cub Cadet XT1 LT46 which I have used a few times. Last time I accidentally hit the gas pedal and bumped into a rather large plant, and the mower got stuck between the plant and a fence, so I, with a friend, pulled it out. Since that time my bypass transmission rod doesn't work properly--whether it is in all the way or out all the way, the mower will roll without a problem. Also, the mower still runs and cuts grass okay.

Is there something I can do to fix this? Or, in the meantime, is it alright to continue mowing without this rod working properly?
