Alright fellas, I have an issue. I have a Western Auto mower (MODEL#:FHP5266A99/SERIAL#:011199M 000817) with a Briggs XTE 6HP Quantum (MODEL:12J802-2324-E1/CODE: 91122156). I got it running after going threw the carb, replacing oil, and spark plug. Ya know, routine maintenance. It is front wheel drive. So its running and I'm thinking that it's not at the correct RPM because it's to quiet, and once i engaged the front wheel drive it went even slower but still ran just fine. i even cut the yard with it with no issues and no bogging. So, I do the right thing and get a different spring on the throttle, because it has an adjustable throttle on the handle, and it screams like a banshee. It had to hit 4,500 - 5,000 RPM. I mean it was screaming! So, i tinkered with the spring trying to get it to simmer down a bit but didn't have any luck. Even went as far as taking some wire and making it were I coulden't even move the throttle. Of course the old spring broke getting it off, so i couldn't put it back on. Dang. So, my question to you fellas is, where can i get a spring for a Briggs XTE 6HP quantum (MODEL:12J802-2324-E1/CODE: 91122156)? I just want to get the thing out of my yard. I don't want to send it to the dump because it runs.
