Briggs will not start

placed this engine 40h777-0168-e1 in a old john deere had to install new key switch, solenoid, and rewire, engine has been starting up and running good then for some reason will not start now, checked for spark on both cylinder's none, disconnected the coil ground wire still no spark, any clues as what to look for in order to be able to start

if you have no spark with the coil ground disconnected, probably a bad coil. BUT since this is a transplant engine, make sure you don't have 12 volts on the ground wire with the key in the OFF, ON or Start position. that will fry the coil

will check that out in morning, but would both go out at same time , have coil going to light switch to kill engine

Yelp if 12V is applied as the blocking diodes don't currently stop the 12V input.

here is the setup for the wiring for transplant engine, kill switch is wired from coils to light switch to battery ground

key switch
s - goes to small lug on solenoid
b- to large post on solenoid
r- rectifier
I - carb
a- not connected to anything

with key switch turned to run position
b- 12 volts
s- 0 volts
I - 12 volts
r - 12 volts
a - 12 volts

did a wire check on the wires coming from the coils did not get any audible sound which tells me that this wire is bad
also coils could be bad like you said in last post
