I replaced the Briggs (Husqvarna( 2 barrel carb with a new one and it stopped the white exhaust smoke problem BUT, it now pops or has subdued backfiring when running at higher RPMs. The carb from Amazon is a 791230 that does not have any adjustments other than the idle screw. Does anyone have a history of suggestions? Thanks mucn.

Try setting the intake and exhaust valves, that can cause what you are talking about, might also check compression, might have one cylinder that is lower that will cause that also.
